Paul had already researched possible venues before popping the question and thought that I would be impressed by The Monastery. He had a friend who had gone to see it for their wedding, but who had been unable to book it for their day. I loved it as soon as I saw it and knew we’d have a perfect wedding day there.

The day dawned grey and overcast, but luckily by the time I was ready to leave the hotel where me and my family were staying, the sun was out and it continued to bless us all day.

It was a lovely relaxing start to the day. My mother-in-law arranged my own personal ‘beauty team’ for me, so I had my hair and make-up done in the hotel room, and my mum and bridesmaids were there to help me into my dress, over a couple of glasses of champagne. Dad and I had a little bit of special time alone too before we set off for the Monastery. Paul had already been at the Grade II* listed building with his family for about an hour, greeting guests as they arrived. It all ran so smoothly. We were able to spend a lot of time in the courtyard, because the sun was out and the day just flew by.

The atmosphere was superb, made all the more special by such a majestic space, with the Great Nave later transformed for the wedding breakfast. We were so happy with how everything went. The service was first class, the food and wine were excellent, and we danced all night. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Not content with one beautiful wedding we got married again in Las Vegas which began our honeymoon! It was in the famous Little White Wedding Chapel where Frank Sinatra once got married and was so much fun!
