Birdsall House launches as exclusive Yorkshire wedding venue
15 Mar 2018
Birdsall House in Malton, North Yorkshire has opened its doors for the first time in history and is perfectly poised to host local weddings
Built in 1540 on the ruins of a monastery and home to the Willoughby family, Birdsall House is a beautiful stately home set in its own private valley on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds.
From spring 2018, the venue will become available for event hire and is due to host its first wedding showcase on Sunday, 29th April.
The main wing of the house will be available for exclusive use, featuring a ballroom, dinning room and a state room named the Oval Room. Accommodation is also provided by six luxuriously renovated bedrooms, which include a bridal suite with double bath and stunning views.
The services of wedding planning company LW Events are also offered as part of the package. Lindsay Whitwell, director of LW events, says: "It’s unique to find a venue that is so steeped in history and has such a wow factor and yet can offer couples so many options for their big day. Whether it’s having a ceremony in the 12th century church ruins, or using the Oval Room and the ballroom for a truly memorable wedding breakfast, each event can be truly bespoke. It’s easy to see how a family could make use of the house for an entire weekend."
Lady Cara Willoughby, who lives in the house with her husband, the Honourable James Willoughby, and their three children, says: "Birdsall House has so much history and is a truly awe-inspiring setting for a celebration. We take a lot of pride in our home and it’s taken a lot of hard work to ensure the new bedrooms match the standard of the main reception rooms. We are proud to have created a warm, unpretentious venue that I hope lots of people will create lasting memories in."
