If you’re getting married next year, say goodbye to jam jars and little floral details and say hello to showstopper arrangements full of the wow factor. That’s the message from top Hampshire florist, Paula Rooney.

Paula, who creates beautiful floral schemes for weddings across London and the South East, tips large waterfall bouquets full of foliage and wildflowers to be on the arm of every on-trend bride in 2014.

“These bouquets make a real statement,” says Paula. “They work perfectly with lace gowns or dresses with sleeves and pockets and when you combine them with floral crowns, they look absolutely amazing.”

Big is also back when it comes to floral decorations too. Paula predicts large floral pieces to be taking centre stage at the smartest weddings.

“We’ll be working on ceiling arrangements full of trailing jasmine that hang above the top table next year as well as floral walls that are beautiful backdrops for photos or that are placed behind the top table to really draw the eye and create a stunning visual impression for every guest the moment they enter the room.

“One of the best things about these new trends is that although arrangements are much bigger than we’ve seen over the last few years, they’re still very natural looking so can still work with vintage themes but the scale means one or two pieces create much more impact. These floral details look great when they’re accented with floral table linens or bold printed fabrics that we’re seeing on the catwalks too.”

With schemes including succulents, foliage, herbs, trees and bold colour options already in place for the new year’s brides, it’s clear that 2014 is not going to be for the florally faint hearted!
