Belief Awards unveils breathtaking wedding photographs

21 Dec 2017

Every four months, Belief holds an international online contest featuring the best weddings from across the glove as part of the Belief Awards

The Belief Awards were established to highlight the most creative and unique weddings across the world by international wedding planners. For the eighth edition of the Belief Awards, 14 wedding planners from nine different countries were chosen as winners.

“We were thrilled with the number of entries and choosing the winners was hard but we are delighted with the results. I'm really proud of our community as it's bringing together the most different ways and destinations to get married around the world. This is amazing for all the wedding industry, and for our members as well”, says Giovana Duailibe, executive director of Belief.

The winners were divided into five categories: wedding concept, special photo, black and white, cultural wedding, and destination wedding.

Meet the winners by continent:

Guatemala – Pilu Delgado

This wedding was a winner in the destination wedding category. The couple, from the United States, is part of the medical missionaries group that come to Guatemala every year. The wedding featured Guatemalan details and decorations throughout.

Mexico - Guadalupe Alvarez

Winner in the black and white category, this photo was a candid moment during the portrait session with the bride. She was admiring the decorations and basking in the moment of her wedding day.

Mexico - Ilse Diamant

This wedding planner was a winner in the wedding concept category, with a gorgeous boho wedding in the beach of Tulum.

Jacqueline Vazquez

This New York wedding won in the special photo category. To get the perfect image, the couple walked back and forth three times on the street to get it just right. The final photograph featured a NYC taxi cab, which made it perfect.

France - Aurélie Olarte y Roman

This French wedding won in the black and white category. The couple chose to get married in the Alpilles and the photograph was taken in a field of olive trees. The photographers asked the couple to dance to get them relaxed.

Greece - Anna Laudanska

This Greek wedding planner was awarded in two categories: wedding concept and cultural wedding. The first wedding’s main concept centred on floral motives, while the cultural wedding was a traditional Greek-Orthodox church ceremony with Stefana (headbands exchange) and lots of rice.

Italy - Valentina Lombardi

This wedding, which won in the special photo category, had a major challenge - rain. “Rain changed many plans we had on the day, such as outdoor aperitifs and a boat trip, but we made all possible anyway and Hannah and Kai had the best day ever,” wedding planner Valentina Lombardi explained.

Italy - Alessandra Marchetti

This beautiful Italian wedding took place in Tuscany and won in the wedding concept category. For this wedding, details, such as the colour scheme, were the main focus. The concept was designed to be chic, boho and romantic.

Italy - Sandra Santoro

This typical Italian wedding with a stunning view was a winner in the wedding concept category and the special photo category.

Portugal - Rui Mota Pinto

The biggest challenge for this wedding was to get together three different cultures; the bride was Brazilian, the groom was Angolan, and they decided to get married in Portugal. This cultural melting pot won in two categories: wedding concept and black and white.

Middle East

Lebanon - Elie Berchan

This wedding, which happened in Switzerland, was organized by a Lebanese wedding planner. The amazing landscape guaranteed it an award in the destination wedding category.

South Africa - Cara McLaughlin

This wedding planner was awarded in two categories - cultural wedding and destination wedding. The cultural wedding featured a Hindu bride and German groom; because they were of mixed religions, it was a very special wedding ceremony where they did all the traditional Hindu parts of the ceremony. The destination wedding starred a couple from the UK whose family live in South Africa. They chose to marry at a lovely chapel in Stellenbosch, with stunning surroundings and the most amazing mountain views.

South Africa - Niki Steenkamp

This wedding planner was awarded in the destination wedding category. The couple celebrated their wedding day at Olive Rock in Wolseley, South Africa.

South Africa - Sunelle and Margaux van den Berg

The main goal of this wedding, a winner in wedding concept category, was for all the floral details to look like it would naturally occur in a field or forest. None of the centrepieces were too structured, giving the impression that someone strolled through a field and simply picked bunches to put on the tables.
