Planning a wedding is exciting as much as it is stressful. Even if you hire a wedding planner, you will still have to deal with all sorts of decisions to create your dream wedding, and choosing a venue is just one of them.

Today, many couples choose intimate venues over big and expensive ballrooms for the more personal vibe they offer. Some couples even choose their own homes or family homes for the big day to keep costs down while ensuring utmost comfort. For spring and summer weddings, a garden environment can be made truly magical. If you yearn for a garden wedding, here's how you can transform the setting.

1. Fairy centrepieces

Tables are an important piece of the wedding set-up which can greatly contribute to the look of your ceremony. Instead of classic white tablecloth and floral centrepieces, go for more vintage décor in muted colours. Use a light grey tablecloth and place a metre of faux grass in the centre of each table. Decorate the grass with antique candelabras and surround it with flower buds and glass candleholders. This will create a fairyland décor and contribute to the amorous ambience.

2. Flowers, flowers everywhere

What is more romantic than flowers? Scatter petals down the aisle and decorate the arch with lots of colourful flowers of all shapes and sizes. Hang the flower wreaths above the guest chairs if there are branches above. Alternatively, you can create flower buds out of paper and tie them to the shrubs and on the trees. Flowers are an important part of any wedding, it’s only the question of kind, size and amount you want to use. However, undeniably, everything looks more enchanting with flowers.

3. Under the garden sky

A wedding can start during the day but will stretch into the evening hours. This is why decorating your garden with white paper lanterns can create a romantic and dreamy atmosphere. You can choose different sizes and scatter them among the tree branches for a starry effect. Lanterns can also be perfectly placed around the dancefloor to create an intimate mood and atmosphere.

4. Dreamy landscapes

A garden is more than just grass, flowers and other plants. It requires design to keep everything in order and style, and nothing needs landscaping more than a wedding garden. As the Musa landscape architects say: “Outdoor space is an extension of our lifestyles", so make it your own. You can create a memory lane out of a garden path for the guests to walk down by revisiting important moments you have shared as a couple. For example, if you both like spending time riding bikes, hire some and decorate with flowers and pictures of the two of you.

5. Pathway to dreamland

You can treat your guests with an introduction to what they can expect from your wedding by welcoming them with some decorations as well. A pathway to the garden is the perfect spot to place a pergola and adorn with vines. On the one side, you can hang ribbons to fall to the ground, creating a colourful and welcoming road to the venue. This way your guest will feel as though they are entering a dreamland.
