The Bride: Steff
Mrs P and P: How did it all happen?
Steff: In February 2012, I went on a night out in Wolverhampton and bumped into Dave. We started chatting the next day on Facebook and never stopped!
A year and a half later, he cooked me dinner and proposed to me. After a few questions from me, he admitted he wanted to do it at a gig, but he knew the attention would have been too much for me!
P: Tell us about your wedding planning journey
S: We’re both quite impatient so we decided to only wait a year for the big day and within two weeks we’d booked our venue at the Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel. It was just perfect; we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.
I thoroughly enjoyed the wedding planning, I made lots of lists and spent many hours researching things on my computer and we went through every little detail from flowers to music to button holes.
We actually started with the idea of a beach wedding, but that quickly turned into something completely different and we went for a romantic autumn setting, with the red, orange and yellow colour scheme and fairy lights.
It was important to us that the day stayed personal so we made a lot of things ourselves, like the order of the day, and our families put in so much effort to help us where they could. My Mum made metres upon metres of cotton bunting from scratch, my dad made the gorgeous log cake and Dave’s parents baked everything for our cookie table.
After all the hard work, we were married on the 2nd November 2014.
The best part of the day for me was listening to Dave say his vows. He’s not really the type to talk about his feelings. The registrar turned around at the end and said she’d never seen a groom who grinned so much all the way through the ceremony.
P: Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples?
S: Don’t get wrapped up in everyone else’s opinions, the day is for you and your partner make sure you have what you want and remember it’s a celebration of how much you love eachother.
Things won’t go the way you first picture them in your head but don’t stress yourselves out worrying, everything will work out how it’s supposed to.
