A selection of Hampshire wedding suppliers came together to create an urban vintage themed wedding shoot in the streets of Winchester
Gemma Starr of Little Star Events takes us behind the scenes of this urban vintage themed wedding shoot in Winchester, which featured a selection of dreses, intricate hair styles and simple pastel flowers.
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
We love holding photoshoots on the day of our wedding fayres as it gives our suppliers another great opportunity to showcase their amazing work. Little Star Events Wedding Fayres are all about creatively inspiring the couples attending and really showing them how popular themes can be bought to life for their special day.
Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen
This photoshoot was taken at our Vintage Afternoon Wedding Fayre earlier in the year. It is a very popular fayre and vintage is still a very popular theme for weddings. I am aware that vintage now means a lot of different things to different people and there are so many variations to the theme, so I was keen to explore vintage in an urban setting. For this shoot, I wanted to show how the traditionally vintage look can be bought into an urban setting and how great this combination is. Winchester is a beautiful city with so many gorgeous areas to explore this theme. I knew Lauren from LaHu Studios would be the perfect photographer for this shoot as she is so creative in finding perfect locations to fit the brief and always makes the models feel so comfortable and confident.
What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits?
The hair and make-up styles created by Dolly from Dolly’s Beauty Parlour were exquisite, showcasing how she can create amazing vintage looks. They were teamed perfectly with dresses from Millie Couture Bridal, showcasing some Millie Couture dresses and some Louise Bentley styles which they also stock. The urban vintage feel was perfectly bought to life with Melissa in the streets with the graffiti walls. Her gorgeous hairstyle, which featured a rose made from her own hair at every level, teamed with her bold lips and the pretty lace of the gorgeous tea dress made this a real edgy take on the traditional vintage look.
Melissa held a beautiful, natural hand tied bouquet of an array of spring flowers including daisies by With These Hands. Jo showed how the urban vintage look does not always have to look contemporary; by using the walls in Winchester, LaHu Studios created a beautiful regal vintage look with a birdcage veil from Millie Couture perfectly complementing this.
Eva beautifully modelled a gorgeous pastel green floral dress from Louise Bentley at Millie Couture. Her beautifully detailed hairstyle and bold red lips looked great with the dress, particularly up against the urban wall. Eva modelled a tea length dress with a sweetheart neckline, also from Millie Couture.
The photos of Eva in the archway made her look like a vintage Princess and the gorgeous pastel tones in the beautiful bouquet from With These Hands softened the look. Michelle looked fantastic in the streets of Winchester in a Millie Couture tea length dress with a gorgeous braid hair style and natural make-up by Dolly’s Beauty Parlour.
The peach trench coat with floral lining worked perfectly with the dress and her red shoes gave a real colour pop. Our models were a range of ages and showcased a selection of different looks to show that vintage can be adapted to fit a bride of all ages and styles.
