An Oxfordshire shoot to inspire brides on a budget

04 Sep 2018

Demonstrating how beautiful bridal style need not be expensive, this shoot showcases a selection of second-hand wedding dresses

Taking us behind the scenes of this bridal shoot in Witney, the suppliers behind the images detail how the concept came together.

What was the inspiration behind the shoot?

Sandra Lenting of Heart Accomplice Ltd: "Every bride has the right to look perfect on her special day. My passion is to help a bride find her dream bridal dress even on a small budget. In my online shop I sell only second-hand bridal dresses and with these pictures we wan to inspire all brides and show that they can look fantastic even in a second-hand gown."

Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen.

There are different reasons why we chose this location. Eynsham Hall is a very popular wedding venue and an absolutely perfect place for a bridal dress styled shoot. This stunning property has so many beautiful facets and lots of different places where you can see how incredible this venue is.

What did you choose for the flower arrangements?

Sophie Snow Floral: "For the flowers I wanted two different options to fit with the different styles of dresses. It was important that the bouquets fitted in well but didn't take over. Having lots of texture was important so I picked different styles of seasonal flowers to piece together. One featured a more neutral, pastel palette which offered elegance, while the reds and pinks added a pop of colour. Eucalyptus was the main foliage used in the bouquets which gave a lovely scent and added a whimsical feel. To fit in with the style of shoot and location, we kept the bouquets natural looking and not too structured to create a more organic look."

What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the brides?

Kamila Roberts: "When I was doing make-up and hair for this shoot, I wanted to create something timeless and elegant. Enhancing the models' natural beauty was one of my main goals. I love fresh, flawless and glowy skin, rosy cheeks and natural lip colour, as well as definition on the eyes to make them really pop and stand out; classically beautiful bridal make-up which suits everyone. With the hair, I went for simple styles with added volume and gloss, decorated with fabulous hair pieces from The Wedding Fairy and Friends for that extra sparkle."

Holly Andersen: "When styling the hair and doing the make-up for this shoot I wanted to ensure the make-up enhanced the models' natural features and the hairstyles complemented the dresses. I wanted to create classic looks that are always popular requests from brides-to-be. For the hairstyles, I wanted to create beautiful up-dos that would work well with the wedding accessories."

What kind of accessories were used to create these looks and why?

Sandra Lenting of Heart Accomplice Ltd: "We used different kinds of veils, beautiful hair pins and clips, headbands and combs. For the jewellery, we used beautiful bracelets and necklaces to complete the perfect bridal looks."
