Nicola and Will travelled to Tuscany for the overseas wedding in the sun - we take a look at their beautiful country barn wedding.

“On June 6 2014 I photographed the gorgeous day of Will and Nicola, and it also happened to be my birthday,” says Derbyshire-based Andy Pickard, of Peacock Obscura Photography. “This intimate wedding was really special, full of emotion and love. It was a small affair, they were surrounded by 25 of their closest family and friends. Will as a profession is a wedding photographer but also has creative skills as a wedding florist. He created all the wedding bouquet and flower arrangements.”

A Spectacular Tuscan Location

“The wedding day took place in two fabulous venues the reception party in a little town called Barga at the Bagni Di Lucca with its own amphitheatre nestled in the hills," says Andy. "The ceremony at the Cedri was gorgeous and provided spectacular views of the Tuscany region. The emotional highlight of the day was a balloon release for the their still born son, Mylo. Nicola and Will run Mylo’s fund which raises money to support charities that helped them through their difficult journey after their son Mylo was sadly stillborn. Mylo was at the wedding in the form of Mylo Bear, who features in many of the photographs so he could share the day along with Otto, their second son.”

We talk to groom, Will Hardy:

How did you meet?
We were childhood sweethearts, we met at school and grew up together.

When did you get engaged?
We got engaged in June 2013. I decided to send Nicola flowers every hour of her last day at work before her maternity leave started. Next I covered her car in roses and placed instructions of what to do next in the car. I asked her to drive and see Milo, and she was met at his graveside with a card and many rose petals surrounding her. I crept up behind on one knee with a haribo ring in hand!

Tell us about your wedding planning journey?
Because we were getting married abroad it took a lot of organisation and attention to the details. We also had a UK party that took place in a cow shed, so that took a lot of preparation!

What was the best bit of your day?
The whole day was exactly as we wanted it: sun, all our closest friends and family, a gorgeous walled garden, sun and fantastic food!

Any advice for other couples?
Do what you want to do, not what others think you should do and enjoy every last minute!
