Tell us about the proposal
We were on holiday in Florida and Stuart proposed to me on the pier at Clearwater Beach. He asked my son Stanley, who was two at the time, to give me a card asking me the question. While I was reading the card, Stuart got down on one knee.
How was your wedding affected by Covid-19?
We had to reschedule our wedding from May 2020 to October 2020. We were still unsure whether it could go ahead right up until the date.
What was the theme for the day, and did you have a colour scheme?
I had a pastel colour theme for the wedding.
What venue did you choose and why did you choose it?
We chose Psaroyannos restaurant at Sani Marina. We had our own private room and balcony so there was lots of privacy. The venue also had lovely décor.
How did you know you’d found ‘the’ dress?
I knew I wanted some lace detail around the bottom of my dress. I went to two dress shops and tried five dresses on prior to finding mine. My dress was by Justin Alexander, and I knew it was the one because it had a huge train.
Who were the bridesmaids and what did they wear?
My sister and niece were my bridesmaids and they wore outfits from Chi Chi and Monsoon.
What did the mother of the bride wear? Where did the groom find his suit?
The mother of the bride wore an outfit from Ted Baker. The suits were from Next.
Often the aspect that makes a wedding original to the couple is the detail – tell us about the details of the day
As we didn’t know whether the wedding could go ahead or not due to Covid, we didn’t order the flowers prior to flying out. Our wedding planner, Anna Wohlfart of Sani Resorts, took us to a florist a few days prior and we picked out the flowers we wanted. They were so beautiful and in the pastel colour theme.
We also had mini mason jars filled with sweets and colouring clipboards for the children.
What was your most memorable moment?
Having our photos taken at sunset on the beach. It was magical.
What was the most important investment for you?
The holiday and the experience for us and our guests.
What song did you choose for your first dance, and why?
Conversations in the Dark by John Legend. The lyrics mean a lot to us.
Tell us about your wedding cake
Our wedding cake was two-tiered. One layer had jam and cream and the other had chocolate. It was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers.
If you could go back and change anything, what would it be?
Everything was perfect, but maybe if we had the ceremony earlier, there might have been more time for the reception.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
A week after our wedding, we went to Lanzarote on a mini-moon. For our main honeymoon, we are due to go to Costa Rica. This had to be delayed due to Covid.
Do you have any advice for couples in the planning stages?
Enjoy it, and don’t get too stressed about minor details.
