An Indian Summer shoot for mum

Local suppliers and The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation teamed up for this Indian Summer themed inspiration shoot in aid of a special lady

As Tasha Newland from Ikonworks Photography watched her mum lose her battle with breast cancer last year, she saw an invitation on Facebook she couldn’t help accept. Accessories company Flo and Percy wanted to collaborate with a photographer on an inspiration shoot using their Indian Summer range of accessories and Tasha, who describes herself as a ‘bling-loving photographer’ jumped at the chance.

In September as Tasha sat down to think about the inspiration for the shoot, she settle on the keywords ‘strong’ and ‘graceful’ in memory of her mum. Wanting to use strong brands with graceful products, Tasha made a list of those she loved – Ian Stuart, Freya Rose, Tiara Boutique, the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, not believing she had a chance of getting them all involved. Adding more suppliers along the way Tasha found event co-ordinator Sarah Cross on Twitter who she says ‘saved her sanity’ and Kat Hoy who made a wonderful assistant.

The colour scheme was pinks, peach and turquoise in memory of her mum – some of the last flowers Tasha bought her were pink and peach and one of her favourite T-shirts was turquoise. The colours fit with the Indian summer theme too.

When Tasha met Blooming Workshop, who suggested linking the shoot to a cancer charity, she decided to link the shoot to The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation. Remembering reading about the founder Naomi Thomas, Tasha emailed her asking her to be involved and to model as well. Naomi came along after picking up a Daily Mail Inspirational Woman Award.

What makes this shoot different? Tasha deliberately used high street, affordable and high end luxury together, creating something elegant and beautiful. We love the resulting images.
