From Jenny Packham to Sassi Holford, this bridal shoot featured an array of graceful wedding dresses
Taking place at St. Michael's Manor hotel in St. Albans, this beautiful bridal shoot aimed to showcase the variety of stunning bridal gowns available at The Bride wedding dress boutique. Lynsey Dalvarez from The Bride takes us behind the scenes.
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
We simply cannot get enough of the gorgeous boho-inspired bridal look. Whether it’s a soft floaty skirt or the relaxed fit of a sparkly Jenny Packham dress teamed with a floral crown, there really are so many different ways to be a ‘boho bride.’ We wanted to showcase The Bride’s range of beautiful British-designed dresses from award winning designers Stephanie Allin, Sassi Holford, Suzanne Neville and Jenny Packham, whilst demonstrating how many different ways there are to style one of the most talked about looks of the season. We worked with Zoe from Zoe C. Photography to capture some truly inspirational shots for any bride wanting to feel like a bohemian goddess walking down the aisle.
Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen
The shoot took place at the neighbouring St. Michael’s Manor Hotel. With its stunning grounds, complete with glimmering lake, stylish jetty and areas of woodland, it was the perfect backdrop for the shoot.
What did you choose for the flower arrangements?
The white and pink tones in the flowers, created by the talented Nadine at Spinney Cottage Flowers, really helped to pull the full look together. The floral crown and the scattering of delicate flowers through the hair looked incredible. You can’t beat a bit of simple gypsophila to add informal prettiness to an occasion.
What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the models?
Make-up was kept soft, and hair was loose and tousled to keep the brides looking effortlessly glamorous. What we particularly love about bridal boho is how you can team intricate sparkle or a touch of lace, with a muted colour palette to create an informal yet stylish look. Choosing a dress which is less structured or has a lot of movement in the skirt can really help keep things looking relaxed and on trend. We especially love the beaded floral bodice and floaty skirt of Jenny Packham’s ‘Taylor’ and the simplicity of Sassi Holford’s ‘Sienna’ teamed with a simple lace jacket.
There really is a boho bridal look for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a slim or full skirt, or delicate beading or lace, the best tip to brides is to try a variety of dresses whilst thinking about all the little details which help pull the full look together. The team at The Bride love a ‘boho brief‘ and will always happily offer styling advice to help any bride towards their vision.
