Amigo Loans has unveiled the differences in booking a wedding, compared to a party or other celebratory event.
Contacting 24 venues and 72 suppliers across the UK, Amigo Loans discovered the following:
- 125% increase in photographer prices for a wedding compared to a birthday party
- 68% more expensive to book a wedding package than a party
- DJs available for wedding but ‘fully booked’ for a party on the same date and 61% hiked their prices up as a result
- The cost of a three-course sit down meal increased by 28% for a wedding booking
Known as 'wedding tax', the research revealed that a simple change in what you require a venue for can save an average of 37%.
The results have been collated as an informative and insightful infographic; visit the Amigo Loans website to see it in full.
Qualifying the price increases, Bride magazine's editorial director, Joanne Goodwin, said: “Organising a wedding can be a costly business because so many strands need to be pulled together to create that perfect day and many couples are willing to pay for the best. In return they get expertise and unbounded enthusiasm from an industry that prides itself on excellence.”
In response to the findings, Amigo Loans has compiled some money saving tips for newly-engaged couples planning their special day.
