A winter woodland wedding shoot in the Cotswolds

22 Jan 2018

Rosie Windsor Photography takes us behind the scenes of this enchanting wedding shoot in the Cotswold woodland

What was the inspiration behind the shoot?

The inspiration for the shoot was from an old German tale called The Enchanted Wreath, about a young girl who wore a wreath placed on her head by doves in a forest. We drew inspiration from the idea of the wreath and used it throughout the design of the shoot.

Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen.

We used Calcot Manor in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, as it provided us with the enchanting woods and surrounding area for the look of the images we were going for. It’s also a very popular wedding venue.

What did you choose for the flower arrangements?

Our amazing florist, Jenny Fleur, was the one who designed all of our floristry displays that are seen throughout the images. She made a beautiful large wreath used to frame the model in a lot of the images, showing how such an impression creation can be used as a centrepiece for your wedding day. The gorgeous flower crown gave us the boho ethereal feel, and was a key element in our theme.

What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride?

We wanted to create a natural beauty; an ethereal tale of the enchanted wreath and a young girl in the forest. We made decisions to have very free-flowing wedding dresses and one that was designed with delicate flowers. The make-up was kept natural, using colours to suit the scene, flowers and hair.

What was the thinking behind the décor for the shoot? How did you tie it all together?

Our lovely wedding stylist, Wedding Creations, created everything to tie in, from table top decorations and menu details, through to a moss-covered sofa. All our details were designed to tie in with our theme and showcase some lovely ideas to inspire brides- and grooms-to-be.

What kind of accessories were used to create these looks and why?

We joined forces with many amazing people in the wedding industry who all supplied key elements for the shoot. Their creativity and ideas could not have been better, supplying us with gorgeous cakes, stationery and canapés etc.
