The morning of our wedding was hectic with four bridesmaids, mum, dad and me all getting ready, but it was a lovely time to spend with my nearest and dearest.

I was nervous walking into church but all I could see was Stuart waiting at the end of the aisle and everything was fine after that. Although, we had had a slight delay as one of my bridesmaids got her shoe stuck in the grate outside the church! We had three verses of the bridal march before I started to walk down the aisle!

We were desperate for a day that all flowed together and, thankfully it did, perfectly. In fact, the whole wedding day was just one big best bit!

My dress was ‘Dabra’ by Blue Enzoani. It had a floor length veil edged in lace and I had a handmade lace bolero for the church, which gave my dress two different looks. My shoes were by Diane Hassall, my earrings from Sarah Layton in Whalley and I had my mum’s sapphire solitaire eternity ring as my something borrowed. Stuart also gave me a diamond tennis bracelet as a present.

Stuart created all our stationery. We wanted very traditional, very simple stationery and had the invites printed by a letterpress printer for a really classic feel. All the stationery was designed using a typeface called ‘Sally’ by Fontsmith and although no-one else knew it, we loved that little touch.

Our table plan was an antique mirror with wooden hearts to peg the lists onto. Our table names were footballers that have played for both Derby County and Blackburn Rovers. For favours we made a donation to Alzheimers and made little wooden hearts with each guest’s name burned into it as place names.

The speeches were very funny and also very emotional. It’s unusual for the groom to cry more than the bride but Stu did!

We then had the most amazing honeymoon. We’d decided that two locations would make it extra special. We had eight days at The One and Only in Mauritius and six days at the Banyan Tree in the Seychelles, both of which were tropical paradises and a great way to start married life.
