A 'something blue' wedding shoot in Cheshire

17 Feb 2022

The bride's dress does all the talking in this modern fairytale shoot captured in the Cheshire countryside

The suppliers behind this stunning 'something blue' wedding shoot share the details that brought the concept to life.

What was the inspiration behind the shoot?

The style of the shoot was boho, dreamy and romantic, which complemented the rural setting. We used fairy lights, candles and floral displays to complement the theme.

Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen

Owen House Wedding Barn in Mobberley, Cheshire features a countryside-based wooden farm house that instantly set the stone. Dressed with all the details we chose, it created the perfect backdrop to the theme of our shoot.

What did you choose for the flower arrangements?

Unique You Wedding: Creating a boho luxe design meant we needed a good balance between elegance and wildness, and the arrangements needed structure yet movement. Orchids and roses were used for luxury, paired with lots of dried elements such as pampas and ruscus.

For additional softness, we used gypsophila and asparagus fern, which was spray-painted blue to match the bride's dress. The size and shape of the florals needed to be dramatic and romantic; we needed asymmetrical designs as well as light and shade. A neutral colour palette with warm peachy tones and a pop of blue served to really elevate the look, working closely with the stylists to create a cohesive aesthetic.

Foam-free florals and re-purposed designs from the ceremony set-up added to the eco-friendly and sustainable practices championed by Unique You Wedding.

What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride and groom?

Katie Walsh Hair: Working with a bone structure like Millie’s is every hair stylist's dream. I wanted to show her beautiful cheekbones while complementing her doe eyes. I added a little structure with bohemian braids, which were intertwined throughout to pull the look together.

Working with our very talented make-up artist, we decided to bring the bright gold and copper tones together by choosing the amazing gold crown headpiece to finish the look.
