A rustic bridal shoot in Hampshire

19 Jul 2016

Shot in the old dairy barn surrounds of Hampshire-based bridal boutique Sass and Grace, this country bumpkin bridal shoot offers a myriad of ideas for a rustic wedding

Teaming up with Sass and Grace, Jennifer Sinclair Photography captured soft and rustic bridal inspiration aplenty. Here, Jennifer offers insight in to the creation of the shoot.

What was the inspiration behind the shoot and tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen.

The idea for the shoot started when I first visited Sass and Grace bridal boutique. It was a rainy day, but the journey was still amazing through the pretty Hampshire village of East Stratton. The luxurious bridal boutique is set in a charming old dairy barn, and because I had lived on a farm as a child, I just loved the location. I suggested to Sam, the owner of Sass and Grace, that we should do a location photo shoot within the farm location. Our original intention was to use the farmyard and then drive down to the bluebell woods.

It was a bright sunny day and taking a quick walk around to find our location on the farm for our shoot, I came across a stable with an amazing top shaded light - perfect for a bright, sunny day. So our location informed our inspiration – bridal stable girl. I love it when the location inspires creativity. Everything fitted into place: the model, the location and the flowers. And having the luxury of the bridal boutique on site, we were able to find the right dress for the shoot.

What did you choose for the flower arrangements?

We worked with Judith of Judith Searles Flowers to create a soft, rustic feel to our flowers to complement our farmyard location. The flower crown and bouquet of soft pink roses and a hint of corn worked perfectly for the farm location but created a sweet and exquisite look.

What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride?

Sam chose an Ellis bridal gown (11449) from her range of bridal dresses. The dress perfectly complemented the style of shoot; soft and elegant with a beautiful modesty panel at the front of the dress. The gown worked really well with the location.

The hair and make-up by Claire Hayes Hair and Makeup looked amazing and just perfect for the look and style of the shoot. Abby, our model, has beautiful long blonde hair, so without a doubt the choice was for soft, flowing hair let down with a slight curl.
