Taking place at the stunning Larmer Tree Gardens, this photoshoot was based on the romantic surroundings as well as current colour trends
Frances Moore, make-up artist, takes us behind the scenes of her Salisbury-based bridal shoot that centred around the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens venue. The shoot was based around the current colour trends of peach, coral pink, and mint green, and had a modern romantic theme.
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
Sam Alexander-Pearce from New Forest Studio and I were longing to do another styled wedding shoot together, especially after the amazing success of our previous ‘Luxe Botanical’ photoshoot, which we styled earlier in the year. The inspiration for the shoot came very much from the venue itself. Larmer Tree Gardens is this perfect mix of sprawling landscapes and romantic hideaways, so we knew it had to be very dreamy yet with a modern twist by using current colour trends.
Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen
We knew instantly where we wanted the next shoot to be: Larmer Tree Gardens, located near Salisbury. We are both big fans of this incredibly unique and versatile wedding venue. The theme and inspiration ‘Modern Romantic’ just came to us whilst walking around the space one morning.
What did you choose for the flower arrangements?
Colour played an important role in tying the look together. We decided from the start to go for the season’s hottest colour trends of peach, coral pink and mint green. Our cake designer Stephanie Lee from Just as Delicious and Judith Searles from Judith Searles Flowers were both integral to creating the colour of the shoot. They used deep coral and pink peonies as the basis for all of their designs.
What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride and groom?
Sam Walsh from Sass & Grace was immediately called upon to provide the romantic wedding gowns and veil from her bridal boutique in Winchester. The two gowns shown are Lyn Ashworth ‘Adore Me’, which was super cute with an expertly tied bow on the back by Sam, and Annasul Y ‘2497B’ which has a gorgeous looped back.
Providing the hair and make-up was Jodi Smith from JMS Hair Design and myself, Frances Moore MUA. We decided early on to go for a very loose natural look for model Chloe Lancaster to help tie the modern and romantic elements of the theme together. Jodi kept Chloe’s golden hair beautifully layered with soft curls. For the make-up I created a ‘peaches and cream’ look using deep browns and ambers on the eyes. I then used Bobbi Brown‘s lipstick in Guava to give it that coral peach feel.
What kind of accessories were used to create these looks and why?
Accessories were provided by Victoria Fergusson and from Katy Howieson from What Katy Did Next. We wanted very much a ‘mix and match’ style when it came to the accessories - for instance, we used Victoria Fergusson earrings with Katy’s hair accessories and vice versa - to show off the talents of both ladies and create a laid back look.
