A marquee wedding – whatever the weather

Think that marquees can’t be used all-year round? Think again – Richardson Marquees advises

Promotional Feature

Don’t let colder weather put you off from hosting a marquee at your autumn or winter wedding. Marquees are completely versatile for use all-year round, offering an alternative venue option for each of the seasons. Richardson Marquees details why a marquee should be considered no matter the weather.

1. A stunning spectacle

Darker evenings allow for a greater impact with marquee lighting. With various opportunities to light up the space, couples and their guests can enjoy a black starlight ceiling, fairy lights or LED coloured lights in their marquee. Transforming the internal feel of the marquee in an instant, these lighting options deliver the wow factor on entrance and create an ambient atmosphere that lasts all night long. Use of different types of lighting can also change the feel of the day, as the celebrations move from the more formal reception to the fun of the evening party.

2. Design and durability

On a more technical level, the structure of a clear span marquee incorporates PVC with fasteners within the framework, offering a water-tightness and wind resistance whatever the British weather may decide to do.

3. Warm and cosy

Modern marquee heaters are thermostatically controlled, effectively heating the marquee.  They sit outside of the marquee so that there is no inconvenience for the guests. You can also opt for fire pits to keep you and your guests feeling toasty.

4. Convenient toilet access

If you need a luxury toilet trailer on-site, marquees can be built around the access route so that guests remain undercover. This can be linked to the main marquee so that everyone keeps warm and dry throughout the day.

5. Functional flooring

Richardson Marquees can provide a subframe wood floor which creates a flat, level surface for the marquee and raises the marquee off the ground for insulation and to prevent water from entering.

6. Seasonal discounts

Many marquee companies offer discounts during off-peak months and Richardson Marquees run a discount from October to April, allowing you to host a marquee wedding at a snip of the price. Presenting the same opportunities for a unique and personalised wedding that a summer marquee wedding affords, there is no reason why brides-to-be should limit their plans to a peak-time wedding.

7. Theme it

And speaking of personalisation, you can work towards some spectacular themes with an autumn or winter marquee wedding. Think magical grottos, Narnia-inspired décor and festive food and drink. If you’re hiring a photobooth, you can even change the props to fur stoles, winter woollies and Christmas-themed clothing. The possibilities are endless.
