A hotel bridal shoot inspired by Disney’s Frozen
15 May 2017
Taking inspiration from Disney’s Frozen, this photoshoot aimed to showcase different ways of exploring the theme for both summer and winter weddings
Gemma Starr from Little Star Events takes us behind the scenes of her Frozen inspired bridal shoot. There were a mixture of Berkshire and Hampshire wedding suppliers involved in the shoot, which aimed to show how the Frozen theme can work for any wedding regardless of the season.
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
With Disney focusing on live action retelling of animated classics, the inspiration behind the shoot was to showcase two ways of exploring the Frozen theme for your wedding. We wanted to show how this theme can work for a summer or a winter wedding, just by changing certain elements.
Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen
The Royal Berkshire Hotel is a stunning venue with elegant rooms inside as well as stunning gardens. We loved the beautiful fountain which really fitted with the Frozen theme, and the gorgeous, huge trees which were perfect for bringing out a spookier element. For the Ice Queen concept, we had Jemimah outside under the beautiful, eerie trees at the Royal Berkshire Hotel which looked stunning with Luna on her arm. This was complemented perfectly by the superb cakes and macarons from Emma at Gifted Heart Cakes.
What did you choose for the flower arrangements?
Seventh Heaven created an amazing table layout filled with beautiful pinks and we were keen to showcase how the Frozen theme can still be warm. With the gorgeous pink flowers, teamed with the white, frosty looking twig displays, it really showed how this could still very much be a spring or summer themed wedding. We stripped back the pinks and left the beautiful twig displays and candles for the winter look. Bows and Bouquets provided a lovely blue bouquet, and we contrasted this by using the twigs for an alternative bouquet to really accentuate the cold field.
What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits?
We played with the idea of two personalities: the stereotypical, warm princess, and the Ice Queen. We were keen to keep some elements the same and therefore had Jemimah model both the winter and the summer looks with the same stunning make-up and hair by Natasha Wiggins Hair and make-up throughout.
What kind of accessories were used to create these looks and why?
We loved having Luna the owl from CSR Falconry with us to use to assist in showing the two personalities. Jemima shows a warm look to him in the photos where she is dressed in pink and then a harder look with Luna on her arm as the Ice Queen. Nigel Worsfold, Toastmaster also assisted us.
