A day to remember

We got engaged nearly four years ago on my 21st birthday. Pete’s dad sadly passed away, so because we wanted to feel he was a major part of the day, we agreed we’d hold our wedding on what would have been his 50th birthday. It was an emotional day, but very special. We chose Chilston Park because that’s where Pete proposed.
I always had an image of my dream wedding dress and even though everyone was telling me I’d end up with the opposite, my chosen gown was literally the dress I had always wanted. The colour theme of our wedding was creams, mochas and browns as we wanted a traditional and classy day that would complement the venue of Chilston Park; needless to say it looked stunning.
On the morning of the wedding I woke calm and excited but the moment our two-year-old son walked into the room wearing his tailed groom’s wear I nearly broke down. He looked so handsome and reality struck that the day we had planned for so long was here.
I remember approaching the church and my dad saying “stop shaking, you will be fine”. However, once I reached Pete I felt calm again.
The service was lovely. Pete’s mum and nan did a reading each and we chose Love Divine All Loves Excelling as one of the hymns as this was Pete’s mum and dad’s hymn at their wedding. I remember how lucky we were with the weather, with bright blue skies from the morning through to the evening we really were blessed.
The evening reception was amazing, we spent more than average on our DJ by having mood lighting, uplifter lighting and a star-lit dance floor but we felt the evening was equally important and wanted it to be magical and memorable for all our guests. The first dance was to KC & JoJo’s All My Life, which has been ‘our song’ since we first met 10 years ago. From then onwards the dance floor was packed.
When you plan a wedding you have an image of how it should look and go and we can genuinely say it all went perfectly. There is a lot of trust in suppliers who you only meet briefly but each and every one of ours were amazing from the wedding car to our photographers. The photos are beautiful and every time we look at them it brings back lovely memories.
To sum up our wedding day it was every bit as special as we had hoped for and wouldn’t have been possible without the brilliant suppliers and staff at Chilston Park. When you have friends and family still talking about it weeks later, you know it was good.
