On the morning of the wedding the first thing I did when I woke up was to call my mum triumphantly and tell her ‘I slept for eight hours!’ I felt calm, and just so excited about the day I’d looked forward to for such a long time. I have lovely memories of my grandma having her hair done in the bridal suite, my sister-in-law arriving in curlers and a huge headscarf, and my nine year old bridesmaid Libby holding the youngest bridesmaid’s hand and looking after her. Will’s mum hand-delivered a card from him, telling me how excited he was to marry me and ending ‘See you at the altar!’ It was a lovely moment, and made me stop and think about the whole reason we were having this amazing day.

The ceremony itself was incredible. It was always the most important part to us, and we really prioritised it in our planning. Will’s sister Giulia, a concert pianist, played the organ, and the Bath Chorus sang all our hymns, as well as beautiful renditions of ‘Fields of Gold’ and ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ while we signed the register. A lighter moment came when my dad had to do a massive lunge step to get over my dress and back to his seat! We hadn’t realised in the rehearsal how small the front of the aisle was, or how big the skirt of my dress was!

We had a toastmaster and a receiving line at the reception, which gave the day a real sense of occasion, and I’ll never forget some of my friends’ faces when they were formally announced to the room. The Manor House is a stunning setting, and looking around and seeing all the planning come together so well and our friends having such a good time was fantastic. The food, the service, the flowers and the cake were all totally perfect. Because we met in the newsroom, we named the tables after all the places we’ve worked, such as BBC News, Sky News and the most glamorous - Riviera Radio, Monte Carlo!

Our band ‘Gee Baby I Love You’ went down a storm. They don’t just play music and sing, they also perform dance routines and dance out into the crowd. Our guests absolutely loved it and were screaming for more. The band even got Will up on stage to sing with them, which was a surprise to everyone, including him!
