A colourful festival boho themed wedding shoot in Yorkshire
17 Sep 2019
LND Events, Caitlin Hazell PR and photographer, Emma Appleyard collaborate to create this colourful festival boho themed same-sex wedding shoot in the new venue, At The Mill in North Yorkshire
At The Mill is a new family run venue situated in the North Yorkshire countryside. The grounds of this quirky 18th century Corn Mill have been renovated to create a stunning setting for weddings. The Mill is on the outskirts of the village of Stillington, situated 11 miles North of York.
With a mill pond, a bridge, a woodland glade, a traditional Shepherd’s Hut, a cow byre cottage conversion, seating areas, a babbling brook, lawns, a fire pit and an orchard – there are plenty of individual areas and spaces for guests to enjoy.
On the mill pond, there is a special little island that is accessible by a wooden walkway. The team decided that this would be fantastic to set up the wedding table scene here, with pops of colour that would be seen through the long green mill pond reeds and overgrown grasses.
The rustic farmhouse table, chairs and chandelier which were hung from the tree branch above the table were all from The French House York, a treasure trove of French antiques. Complementing the rustic table perfectly, were colourful glass candleholders and tumblers and an array of brightly coloured candles from Upside Down Design. The stationery was by Zobra Designs, of moons and hearts place cards and two ‘Mrs and Mrs’ signs to attach to the chairs.
The finishing touches to the table were the florals, by Little Bear and Bird, who worked with the bright colour brief to really help the table stand out against the surrounding greenery.
The cake was designed by The Sugar Florist, who came up with the idea of an ombre effect transitioned up the layers. It was so beautiful it needed a scene of its own, so it was styled it next to an engraved swing that hung from a tree in the woodland of the venue.
They used different sized hanging lanterns to hang from the apple trees giving a fantastic contrast against the two antique leather armchairs, also from The French House York.
Our models, Abena and Leigh, and not forgetting their adorable third model, Honey the dog, who is owned by Emma the photographer.
Make-up was by Nicola Whitfield MUA, who was given the brief of lots of glitter and then let her work her magic with her own ideas. We wanted to leave Abena gorgeous long braids, and gave Leigh space buns to complement the festival look.
Dresses were from Glory Days Bridal, both models were lucky to wear dresses from Hayley’s Rolling in Roses collection. Leigh wore a Crown and Glory chapel length “Over the Rainbow” veil from their Rock ‘N’ Roll Bride collaboration. Abena wore a floral crown and Leigh carried a bouquet, both made by Lindsey from Little Bear and Bird.
