Gift your guests these alternative, quirky wedding favours

It can be difficult to find a gift to suit every one of your wedding guests, especially when they all have different tastes and likes. From mini dried flower bouquets to personalised gin and origami cranes, the possibilities for quirky wedding favours are endless. Think outside the box with these ideas for unusual wedding favours.

Snacks

Give your guests something to snack on if they get peckish throughout the reception with a handy box full of delicious snacks. They can also save the treats and take them home as a delectable reminder of your special day. You could include buttered popcorn, mini chocolates and macrons, freshly baked cookies, or even cupcakes with similar flavours to your wedding cake.

This wedding favour is ideal for warmer weather, especially for outdoor ceremonies and/or receptions. Delicate wooden fans can be engraved with you and your partner’s names and wedding date. You can also choose a pattern or design for these favours that ties in with your wedding theme.

Plants and seeds

Let your love grow by gifting your guests some seed packets. Gift flower seeds that are similar to the types used in your wedding bouquet, so long as they are in season. Alternatively, opt for seedlings from vegetables featured in your wedding meals.

Otherwise, a robust succulent is the way to go. These hardy plants are ideal for a green thumb or even a serial plant killer, as they are easy to care for and you can alternate different species for guests’ wedding favours. The pots can also be personalised with your guests’ names so you can use them for your seating plan, too.

Mini dried flowers

Along a similar theme, you could gift your guests dried flowers. These wedding favours don’t need any nurturing and are a great reminder of your wedding day. There is a myriad of options for dried flowers: you could include a collection of different colours in mini jars, as mini bridal hoops for guests to hang up at home, or in small bunches. This option also allows you to personalise the small bouquet with a name tag that can include the name of your guest, you and your partner’s initials and the wedding date.

Personalised gin

If you’re looking for a gift for gin lovers, you can’t go wrong with a personalised gin set. Elephant Gin has stylish gift options that are ideal for wedding favours, whether you are after a beautifully handwritten label for a personalised dedication or a gin in miniature form. 15% of the profit from each bottle is donated to foundations that work to protect African elephants, and nearly £1 million has been raised to date.

Look to personalised sets containing the Elephant London Dry Gin (45%), the full-bodied Elephant Strength Gin (57%) or the invigorating Elephant Orange Cocoa Gin (40%) to treat your wedding guests.

Oro Gin also have their own flavours of gin, including London Dry Gin, Scottish Dry Gin and a Scottish Rum. The gin company also has mini gin hamper gift, which would go down a treat with your guests. These hampers can be personalised with chocolates and other little snacks. You can also create your own luxury bespoke spirit to gift to your guests.

“Following two years of virtual or small weddings, in-person celebrations are back with a bang." says Ray Clynick, head distiller at Oro Gin. "We are delighted to launch this range of truly bespoke wedding favours so you can really bring a personal element to the favours that your guests take away with them.”

Of course, not everyone can drink gin so these sets would suit a smaller, more intimate wedding guest list. You could also include a non-alcoholic wedding favour option for those who don’t like to or choose not to drink, and swap the drink for a delicious sweet treat or colouring book for the children.

A mysterious novel

Avid book lovers will adore this unique wedding favour. A 'blind date with a book’ is essentially a wrapped book with few clues to its name, author or plot, and is the perfect wedding favour for bride and groom bibliophiles.

You could have a designated table for guests to choose their own blind date book that piques their interest, or you could include this in a little wedding favour pack complete with a personalised bookmark. These bookmarks can be easily found online, especially on Etsy, and come in a multitude of designs from beautiful floral resin to bookmarks inspired by Agatha Christie’s novels or Harry Potter.

To suit a particular theme

If you have a wedding theme in mind, why not get wedding favours that match? These could include the infamous flat cap or a razor-style pin for an iconic Peaky Blinders wedding or Mickey Mouse ear hats or headbands for a Disney-themed wedding. Character shaped cookies and little bobble head wedding favours would perfectly suit a Star Wars theme.

Gift guests their own wand and Hogwarts letter for a Harry Potter themed wedding or a comic and superhero mask for a Marvel or DC wedding theme.

Origami cranes

Origami cranes are small but quirky wedding favours to gift to guests. With plenty of designs to choose from, these favours can give your guests something to do while waiting for food or speeches. They also come in handy for ice breakers at your reception tables.

Soaps

For a more sophisticated wedding favour option, consider gifting soaps. You can mix up different scents to give to different guests, and personalise scents if your wedding party is small in size.

You could even choose to match different scents with the season you are getting married in. Fresh, floral scents would suit a spring wedding while sweet, fruity or lavender options would be ideal for the summer. Autumn weddings can look to soap wedding favours with earthy or pumpkin notes, and smells reminiscent of the holidays or soft cinnamon would be great for winter wedding favours.
