5 Top Tips for your Wedding Flowers

With so many gorgeous flowers, and designs available it can be difficult choosing the perfect wedding flowers but by considering these 5 top tips by experienced London and Cotswold florist Hannah Moore, you simply can’t go wrong.

1. Using seasonal flowers can often ensure the best possible quality as well as stretch your budget as far as possible. In spring tulips and ranunculus are a lovely choice, in summer go for delphiniums and hydrangeas. Incorporate oak leaves in your autumn wedding or choose deep red or white amaryllis in winter.

2. Consider using scented flowers, foliages or herbs to enhance the atmosphere at your ceremony or reception venue. Oriental lilies and hyacinth have a strong heady scent whereas Stocks have a spicy fragrance and freesia have a sweet delicate perfume.

3. Ensure the style of the bridal bouquet you choose compliments your wedding dress. Shower bouquets often balance out a full skirt, whereas posies look beautiful with slim line or shorter dresses. Pomanders or single stems are often a great choice for many styles of bridesmaids’ dresses.

4. Choose flowers that reflect your own personality. Sunflowers have a sense of fun and frivolity, roses are classic and romantic and orchids are individual and exotic.

5. Make sure the flowers for your venue are appropriate for the space. Reception venues with grand high ceilings can be balanced with tall table designs whereas more intimate spaces work well with low table posies.
