5 top tips for a stress-free honeymoon

Trying to plan the perfect honeymoon when you are already pre-occupied with the finer details of your wedding day can be a real headache.

Here are our top tips for ensuring that you have the smoothest and most hassle-free honeymoon possible, so all you have to worry about is having the time of your life.

1. Set a Budget

The first step is all about the money. Weddings are expensive and so are honeymoons. Be sure to be realistic on what you can afford and stick to it. If you wish your budget would stretch a little further, why not investigate a honeymoon gift registry rather than a traditional gift list. Who wants another saucepan anyway when you could put money towards your accommodation or an exciting daytrip or adventure?

2. Designate a Honeymoon Planner

Let’s be honest, aside from buying a house, organising a wedding can be one of the most stressful times as you try and balance work and your social life whilst planning your perfect day. It may be easier to leave it to the professionals, such as Trailfinders luxury honeymoons planners, or at the very least the partner with the least amount of wedding planning responsibilities should take charge. This way, whilst you’re finalising the seating plan, your partner can be reserving your seats on the plane. Easy!

3. Use Your Maiden Name for Flights

If you’re planning on taking your partners name, chances are you’re excited to use it, but it can take up to a couple of months to change the name on your passport. You can check into your hotel and reserving tables using Mr and Mrs, but be sure to use the name as displayed in your passport for plane tickets and visas.

4. Check Passport and Visit Rules Before You Book Your Honeymoon

Did you know that some countries require you to have two blank pages next to one another to be let into the country? No? We didn’t either. Make time to check visa, passport and health requirements of your destination before you jet off. There are some useful websites out there to help you.

5. Tell People It's Your Honeymoon

You’ll be on such a high after your wedding; the smile from ear to ear might just give it away. If not, do not be shy – tell everyone! At worst, people will be very happy for you. At best, you’ll get upgraded, free champagne and the best table in the house. If you’re not using a honeymoon planner, do let your accommodation know when booking as they are the most likely to upgrade your room to suite, or at the very least have a bottle of bubbles chilling on arrival.
