A bride deserves to shine on her wedding day and what better way to turn heads than with statement jewellery. With many couples putting their wedding on hold due to the pandemic, brides-to-be are now looking to go all out with dramatic looks on their special day. Make a statement with these stunning ideas for dramatic wedding jewellery.

First and foremost are your earrings. Earrings are a great option to let your personality shine, but they are also a good starting point for a bride-to-be who is unsure of wearing dramatic pieces. If this is the case, experiment with colours rather than large pieces; try bold colours like sapphire and ruby tones that will add some dramatic flair to your bridal look.

You could even find similar coloured earrings as your engagement ring if a specific-coloured gemstone has been used. This can really tie your bridal outfit together.

If you want to wear large statement earrings, make sure to keep your wedding theme and dress style in mind to create a clean, cohesive look. If your wedding dress has a high neck for example, complement this chic and elegant look with large drop-line earrings.

If you’re wedding dress has a sweetheart neckline, this can allow for greater and bolder earring styles to add interest above your shoulders like chandelier, teardrop and hoop-style earrings.

For bridal necklaces, look to tasteful designs that will make an impact without detracting from your wedding dress, like this gorgeoous collar-style necklace by Ruth Leslie.

A pearl choker would pair well with a bohemian-style bridal dress and similar wedding theme. Sleeveless and spaghetti strap gowns allow for more versatility when selecting a dramatic necklace. You could even opt for a jewel encrusted princess-style necklace to channel the Regency era on your wedding day.

Keep the rest of your wedding jewellery minimal in style to allow this statement piece to truly shine.

If you want to embrace those Recency era vibes that have become so popular among brides-to-be, why not find yourself a beautiful tiara? Lyst has recorded a 156% increase in searches for embellished headpieces last year due to the popularity of the Netflix series Bridgerton giving rise to ‘bridal regencycore’.

Create a bridal ensemble worthy of royalty by adding a delicate, intricate piece such as a diamond leaf tiara to your wedding veil. Keep your wedding dress and accompanying jewellery simple to create a polished, elegant look.

Speaking of veils, make a dramatic entrance to your ceremony by wearing a statement veil. Consider a long 16-foot silk tulle veil like Meghan Markle or personalise your veil like Hayley Bieber’s ‘Till death do us part’ quote stitched into her own wedding veil. You could even personalise your veil like Grace Loves Lace's Truly Madly Deeply Long Veil.

Look for soft flowing embellished veils with detailed appliqué of leaves and flowers combined with delicate crystals and pearls hand-stitched into the fabric. If you love flowers and are looking to add a pop of colour to your bridal look, consider multi-coloured embroidery of wildflowers sewn into your veil for a unique and striking design.

Back drop necklace

Add some dimension to your V-back or backless wedding dress with a back drop necklace. These accessories are long dramatic pieces worn across your back, like a backwards necklace.

Delicate chains with a careful selection of pearls and jewels can create a beautiful personalised bridal style. Because a back drop necklace is so unique, a tasteful curation of jewels to add interest to your back is all that is needed for a statement look.
