We enlist the help of Wendy and Kam from Wendy’s Boutique in London to help you make this crucial decision and find a veil that you’ll feel radiant in.

Below they reveal the most popular styles of veils, how to pick one that’s right for you and everything you need to know about finishing your bridal look.

Q: What are the most popular wedding veils?

There’s a selection of styles, lengths, and finishes you can choose from to make your wedding veil unique and ensure it matches your dress perfectly. We recommend working with a dedicated supplier to find one that’s right for you. It can help you save money, there are a wider variety of veils to choose from, and high quality is guaranteed.

These five wedding veils are most popular and will suit almost any type of dress:

Isabella single-layer veil

This light and traditional wedding veil is perfect for brides looking for something simple and timeless. The tulle is non-gathered, waterfall-cut and attached to a silver-plated bridal comb, that can be plain or decorated with pearls and rhinestones for an elegant finish.

The Isabella veil works well with any type of wedding dress, but especially A-line, mermaid, sheath and empire silhouettes.

Camila two-tier veil

With more volume than the Isabella veil, this style is great for brides that wish to wear the veil over their face as they walk down the aisle, or who want to push it back for a dramatic edge. The Camila veil is cut to fingertip length, which is very on-trend for 2022.

The Camila veil suits lace bridal gowns as its plain-cut edge highlights the detailing beautifully.

Charlotte floor-length veil

This veil design can be worn in several ways. You can choose to have a single layer of tulle, fix a blusher (to cover your face) or wear it as a Juliet cap (gathered on either side). Instead of a bridal comb, you can use a hairpin to arrange the material. Our bejewelled Abigail hairpiece works amazingly.

The Charlotte veil complements trumpet-style dresses effortlessly. The best way to tell if it’s right for you is to experiment with the different styles and see what works.

Luna cathedral-length veil

Our personal favourite, this ethereal veil has two tiers and can be worn over your face or pulled back for a fuller appearance. The Luna veil is ideal for wedding dresses with a cathedral train.

Evelyn lace-embroidered mantilla

Luxurious, delicate and ornamental, the Evelyn veil is perfect for those with an eye for detail. It has a traditional Iberian look. Women used to wear this style of veil to attend mass and during the week before Easter.

The Evelyn mantilla accentuates the features of a mermaid or sheath silhouette dress and complements lace or sequin-finished gowns.

Q: How can I find a wedding veil that’s right for me?

There are a few important things to consider when deciding which veil is right for you. Often brides are told that the veil should complement their dress, but there are countless different styles to match every gown.

However, there are a few reliable ‘rules of thumb’ that can help narrow down your choices.

Firstly, decide on the length of your veil. How long their veil should be is usually what most brides have the hardest time deciding. Here you should think about your figure, the wedding venue and what dress you’re wearing.

For a more modern look, we recommend choosing a shorter veil, such as a shoulder-length piece. Taller brides, considering a more traditional finish, may wish to consider a fingertip-length veil. For those of us that are not so tall, we recommend choosing a chapel-length veil – this is great for smaller venues – or a cathedral-length headpiece, which works well in larger wedding settings.

To select the colour of your veil, it’s best to match it with your dress. An ivory veil works best with an ivory dress, and this is the same for any other shade.

You can also decide if you want an embellished or plain wedding veil. If your dress already has interesting details, such as lace, sequins or beadwork, it's best to keep it simple by opting for a plain design. However, for something truly special, you could also opt for a mantilla veil. These are often single-tier and beautifully embellished.

When it comes to choosing your fabric (or tulle) a single layer of sheer fabric will help to show off a dress with a more dramatic or revealing back. A two-tier veil features a blusher that traditionally covers the bride's face until the ceremony begins. A drop veil is similar but may need more re-adjustment throughout the wedding day.

Hairstyles need not be an issue when finding your veil, as they can typically be made to work with one another, as long as your veil has the right support. A high hair bun can be best shown off by pinning the veil below the bun. It can be helpful to have more support for the veil to be placed on, such as a comb, a pin, or a more ornate hairpiece or accessory.

The most important thing to remember, however, is that if you’re unsure of anything, never be afraid to ask us for help. We’re more than happy to offer our advice and guidance to help you find the perfect veil.

Q: How much should I plan to spend on a wedding veil?

While the price of your veil is dependent on a number of factors, including the length and tulle use, we recommend that you should budget between £30 and £150 for it. The high premium of luxury brands can mean that some brides will pay more. We’re able to source the highest quality tulles, while still keeping luxury wedding veils at an affordable and reasonable price.
