Miranda van Zyl and Damien Adamson hit the jackpot at Hockwold Hall's 2017 Runaway Bride race, winning the competition and scooping a wedding at the venue which is set to take place on Saturday 19th May
Featuring bridal-themed challenges across a five kilometre stretch, Hockwold Hall's Runaway Bride race in Norfolk - held on 21st May 2017 - welcomed couples from all over East Anglia.
With various tasks to complete such as dragging a ball and chain across a course and finding a sixpence in a field to place inside the bride's shoe, the race culminated in a 100m run while carrying the bride across the finishing line.
Miranda van Zyl and Damien Adamson from Barnham, West Sussex, who had attended the event with their son, James, were crowned the winners and presented their prize - a wedding at Hockwold Hall worth £30,000.
The couple are experienced cross country and obstacle endurance racers and Damien even proposed to Miranda at the finish line of the Canadian World Championship Obstacle Racing event in Blue Mountain.
Commenting on their Runaway Bride win, the couple said: "Investing a large amount of money on a wedding had never been a consideration for us, we assumed we would have a small family gathering perhaps in South Africa. Yet the distant thought of having our dream wedding became a reality as we dashed across the finish line, and were overwhelmed with joy when we won our dream wedding. We have to pinch ourselves as we are reminded that we are getting married in the grounds of this stunning venue."
The couple will be hosting their wedding on Saturday 19th May, the same day as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, where a multitude of local suppliers will come together to make the day as special as can be. There will be flowers by My Fleur, catering by Shefs, a cake by Yellow Butterfly Wedding Cakes, photography by Nia & James the Photographers and much more.
