A bevy of beauty foods to incorporate into your pre-wedding diet to ensure you look your best

With your big day fast approaching, nothing's more important than a healthy balanced diet to keep you feeling and looking great. In the weeks before the big day, make sure you stock up on these key nutrient packed foods to keep your skin glowing, eyes sparkling and hair shining - as advised by the experts at Nutracheck.

1. Sweet potato

This, like many other orange coloured fruits and vegetables, is a fantastic source of Vitamin A... just 100g contains more than your daily required amount. Vitamin A is an antioxidant with an important role in keeping skin looking and feeling healthy.

2. Red peppers

These sweet and tasty delights are packed full of Vitamin C - another antioxidant important for skin health. Vitamin C is used by the body to grow and repair body tissue, so helps to keep skin supple and eyes bright.

3. Eggs

A breakfast favourite and a skin booster, too. Eggs are a great source of riboflavin and pyridoxine - two B vitamins important for maintaining healthy skin, eyes and hair. B vits also help to break down and use nutrients such as protein, which is essential for maintaining all body tissue.

4. Turkey

A low fat source of protein, important for skin health but also a great source of niacin. This B vitamin helps our body produce new cells, so things like skin damage can be more readily repaired, helping your skin to stay healthy and youthful.

5. Mackerel

This oily fish comes with a healthy dose of pyridoxine and also omega 3 fatty acids. This type of fat helps to maintain our body's cell walls, to keep our tissue healthy and protected.

6. Olive oil

This healthy oil will provide you with some of your daily Vitamin E needs - another antioxidant which promotes healthy skin. Vitamin E prevents free radicals from damaging our cells, helping to maintain healthy eyes and skin.

7. Quinoa

This popular, easy to prepare grain is full of riboflavin, niacin and zinc. Zinc plays an important role in immunity and cell regeneration. Topping up with this nutrient can help you fight off any unwanted pre-wedding illnesses and keep your skin cells regenerated and healthy.

8. Brazil nuts

One of the best sources of selenium around, with just four nuts giving you your daily selenium needs. Selenium is used to protect skin cells from damage - important for fighting off those pre-wedding stressors.

9. Salmon

Opt for wild salmon over farmed varieties to give you a decent dose of omega 3 fatty acids - sure to give you a healthy looking glow. Fats are also needed in our diet to help absorb fat-soluble Vitamins A and E, also important for healthy skin.

10. Dark chocolate

With the stress that comes with planning your big day, a little treat will certainly be needed. Dark chocolate gives a sweet hit and an antioxidant boost. Antioxidants help to protect our body's cells from damage, keeping our skin looking healthy. Opt for at least 70% cocoa solids for the most antioxidants.
