Eltham Palace in Greenwich is a unique marriage of medieval grandeur and art deco extravagance
Eltham Palace was the childhood home of Henry VIII and the Great Hall contains an ornate carved wood ceiling and dramatic Tudor furniture. In stark contrast, the 1936 mansion, built by millionaires Stephen and Virginia Courtauld, is one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture. Stepping into the Entrance Hall and exploring the rooms beyond is like boarding a magnificent 1930s cruise liner.
Facilities and services
Inside the Palace, be surrounded by 100 of your friends and family as you say "I do" inside the Art Deco Entrance Hall as natural light shines down on you. For larger ceremonies, the Medieval Great Hall makes a spectacular setting as you begin a new chapter in your life in front of up to 200 guests. The Palace is available for exclusive use only and you can choose from dry hire of the venue or a full package which include catering, a dancefloor, lighting, DJ and flowers. The hospitality event co-ordinators have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help guide you through the wedding planning process alongside trusted accredited suppliers who can create a bespoke design for your wedding day.
Cross over one of the oldest working bridges in London to enter into the magnificent grounds of Eltham Palace. Inspired by the Courtauld's love of travel, the Entrance Hall features exquisite marquetry illuminated by the natural light flooding in from the glass dome above. The hammer beam roof in the Great Hall is a sight to behold and can be lit to match your colour scheme. Evoke the majesty of medieval feasts gone by using the original top table for yourself. Outside the splendid terrace and gardens offer a striking backdrop for reception drinks and photographs as the scents of the tulips and roses fill the air.
