How to get the most out of your wedding day

10 Jul 2018

Make the most of your wedding day with these 12 tips from Little Star Events, accompanied by some super cute shoot images

Taking place during the latest wedding fair at Foxhills Club & Resort in Chertsey, this shoot adds a sense of fun to the wedding set-up with child models and showcases how to get the most out of your big day.

Gemma Starr of Little Star Events, who organises wedding events in Surrey and Hampshire, says: "I was keen to organise a styled shoot that involved children to support tips for your special day. I wanted to put across the tips for the bride and groom using child models as children are great at showing their emotions, whether these are silly, funny or so happy. We were keen to ensure that the children were having fun - exactly what they should be doing at a wedding."

"We coupled this with some gorgeous shots of our adult models," continues Gemma. "We used a trusted group of high quality wedding suppliers at the stunning Foxhills Club & Resort. The venue was perfect for the shoot with the amazing grounds and elegant avenue leading from the grand Manor House to the contemporary Clubhouse. The photographer, Lauren from Lahu Studios, also has an amazing ability to capture emotions and really brought out the best of the models."

Here, we take a closer look at the images and share Gemma's top tips for getting the most out of your wedding day.

Make time for each other on your day

It is important that in between making sure you are catching up with friends and saying hello to Aunty Doreen that you have time to enjoy the day together. Take some time out to have your photographs and use this time to check in with each other and feel excited together.

Make each other laugh

Just because it is your wedding day, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do what you always do - have a laugh together and forget all those pre-wedding stresses.

Be a gentleman

Grooms, remember to be chivalrous on your big day and similarly, brides, do things to make your partner feel special, such as compiling a groom box

Don't be afraid to bring florals into the mix

Hire 5 has some amazing, contemporary menswear styles including a range of floral ties and handkerchiefs as well as shirts. The florals on the bow tie and handkerchief really make the tweed pop and make the look more appropriate for summer.

Get your best man to check your tie

Make sure your tie is straight and ask your best man to check this for you throughout the day. You don’t want to look back at photos and let your tie alignment bother you.

Eat cake

Make sure you eat some of your cake. So many couples are so busy during their wedding day that it is all gone by the time they leave. Ask the venue to save you some so you can enjoy it after the wedding, incase you do not get time on the night. This exquisite cake is from Stable Cottage Cakes.

Share any nerves with your bridesmaids

If you suddenly feel overwhelmed about walking down the aisle and everyone looking at you, remember your bridesmaids are there for you and to support you. They will be able to reassure you that you look amazing and give you that boost you need to walk calmly and confidently.

Take in the details

It is important to allow yourself time to really appreciate the flowers, the table centrepieces, the ambience. You have worked hard to ensure this is all exactly as you would like, so take some time to smell the flowers and really enjoy the choices you have made.
