11 Mar 2018

Brides and grooms accompanied by their friends and family turned out in force for the fifth edition of Bride: The Wedding Show at Ascot Racecourse, which once again delivered an unforgettable weekend of wedding planning

Awash with wedding inspiration and ideas, Bride: The Wedding Show at Ascot Racecourse offered the perfect place for local couples to plan their big day.

Spread across two floors with a host of wedding transport options and Flexitent set-up displayed outside the venue, the show presented all the elements for couples to make their wedding a success. A wealth of local suppliers – from florists and photographers to bridal boutiques and cakemakers – were on hand to showcase their products and services, while offering invaluable advice.

Ginny Burges, a first-time exhibitor and skin care consultant for True Luminance, said: “It’s been really positive; we’ve had a great weekend and really enjoyed it. I’ve been really pleased with the response that we’ve had from visitors. It’s a happy time in their life and people want to look and feel good. Lovely people and the show has been well organised; it’s very professional and upbeat. It’s been nice to talk to other exhibitors as well as the visitors.”

Similarly, Sally Broad, owner of Aylin White Designs - a bridal company based in Dorset, was happy with the turn-out for the event, commenting: “My designs have been really well received. Brides were interested to hear that the gown artwork I provide is hand-painted and is created bespoke. It’s been an enjoyable weekend and I look forward to hearing from brides who met me at the show.”

The stylish champagne bar was enjoyed by attendees who took the time to relax and refresh, while the café area was a hive of activity featuring performances from a variety of musical acts. The Pulse and Lula Weddings both took to the stage to serenade the crowds, simultaneously showcasing their offering in wedding entertainment.

There were show-exclusive deals and discounts to take advantage of, as well as amazing competitions to enter. All couples received a complimentary copy of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Bride magazine to take home and the first 100 brides-to-be through the door on both days of the event were gifted a goody bag. Mothers of the bride and groom were also celebrated on Sunday, 11th March – Mother’s Day – with mini bottles of fizz awaiting the first 100 arrivals.

The mums were also catered for in the spell-binding choreographed catwalk show, which presented the latest fashions in wedding attire, as well as bridalwear, bridesmaids’ dresses and groomswear. Confetti Bridal Centre, Champagne and Strawberries, John Lewis, Slater Menswear, Elegans, and Moss Bros were the businesses behind the dazzling dresses, outfits and suits, inviting audience members to visit their respective stands after each catwalk show.

Bride-to-be Louisa Tucker came from Kent to attend the show with her maid of honour and flower girl, ahead of her wedding at Marleybrook House, Canterbury in September 2019. She said: “The catwalk was really good fun and I’ve got a few ideas including some really good ideas for bridesmaids… my flower girl loved it, especially the men’s dancing. We found a stationer, Grace & Bramble, who I will be following up with after the event. It’s one of the best shows that I’ve been to.”

Chloe Morris from Basingstoke was also thrilled by what the show had to offer; she said: "It’s been a brilliant day. Lots of suppliers, they’ve all been fantastic. I’ve bought my second wedding dress from the sale at Confetti Bridal Centre, it’s beautiful. I tried on a few dresses. The boys on the catwalk were great and the selection of dresses was fantastic. I came last year and I’ve come again this year with my friend, Laura, because she hasn’t been."
